Removable braces for teens
Removable braces are typically used when there are still baby teeth or not all of the permanent teeth have completely erupted.
Removable braces are divided into plates, functional orthodontic appliances, and retention devices.
With plates, the upper and lower jaws can be stretched to make room for erupting teeth or to correct malocclusions caused by narrow jaws.
Functional orthodontic appliances (activator / double bite-jumping plate) are used to promote growth.
Retention devices are used to maintain the treatment result.

Functional orthodontic appliances
Activator
The activator is a removable, contiguous device for the upper and lower jaw, which lies loosely in the mouth. This apparatus promotes growth of the lower jaw and thereby corrects the position of the jaws relative to one another.
The brace uses only mouth muscle forces as a source of power.
Double bite-jumping plate
The double bite-jumping plate consists of two active plates for the upper and lower jaw.
The upper jaw plate has guide bars that lead the lower jaw into a further forward position. This promotes the growth of the lower jaw.
Retention devices
After completion of active orthodontic treatment, it is important to stabilize the result achieved, to keep the perfect smile for a lifetime.
Retention plate / splint
For this purpose, in addition to fixed retainer wires, so-called retention plates or retention splints are used, which prevent the teeth from moving. These retention plates or splints are worn initially in the afternoon and at night, then only at night.
Positioner
The positioner is a flexible silicone device manufactured in a single piece for the upper and lower jaw together. This device is used for the fine adjustment of the teeth after the fixed multi-bracket appliance. For optimal effect, it must be worn very faithfully, especially during the first few weeks after the fixed braces are removed.
